Some of the key results of the Youth@Night project were presented at the Nightlife Forum organized by the Observatory of Security of the City of Lausanne.

Florian Labhart (Addiction Suisse) presented the study "La vie nocturne lausannoise des jeunes 16 à 25 ans: aperçus de l'étude Youth@Night", which can be found here.

Mr. Pierre-Antoine Hildbrand (conseiller municipale, direction de la la sécurité et de l'économie, Lausanne) presided over the event.

Our research on geo-localized social media towards the understanding of youth night mobility in collaboration with the City of Lausanne was presented at the Workshop on Social Media and Public Security organized by the European Forum of Urban Security in Paris, October 4, 2016.

Idiap and Y@N at the Swiss Days of Official Statistics 2016

Prof. Daniel Gatica-Perez discussed the value of geo-localized social media as a new urban data source at the Swiss Days of Official Statistics, Neuchatel, Sep. 15-16, 2016. He illustrated this emerging trend with the Youth@Night project and other recent work.

The Swiss Days of Official Statistics are organized by the Swiss Federal Statistical Office (BFS/OFS).

The first results of Youth@Night were presented this spring in several international meetings.

The Idiap team also presented their recent work (which briefly includes Youth@Night) in Canal 9, the local Valais television (direct link).

The first part of the study with the Android-App is now over. 2’500 pictures, 800 videos and about 8.4 million single points of data were generated by 216 participants in Lausanne and Zurich.

The development of the interview guidelines for the second part of the study is completed and 40 qualitative interviews (20 in Zurich and 20 in Lausanne) will take place in January and February.

Sept 19, 2014

The third weekend of recruitment will happen tonight and tomorrow evening in Lausanne and Zurich. If you want to participate, watch out for groups of recruiters with green shirts and the study logo. They will be delighted to register you.

After two more long weeks of hard work, the app is now available for download (current version v1.1). The participants will thus be able document their first evenings tonight and tomorrow!

Recruitment for the study starts on September 5th, 2014 in Lausanne and Zurich. Thus, the first participants will be able to download the app soon after their recruitment and document their first evening on the following Friday.
